Once again Sydney supplied us with a clear, warm winter’s day. With over
1600 cars on display, the combined efforts of the 52 clubs and their
members raised $7000 for the Arthritis Foundation's "Camp Footloose".
Keith Dalleywater, Head of the Preparatory School at Kings, officially
opened the show. Keith is no stranger to British cars having ‘enjoyed’
several in his younger days.
The Kings School offers a fantastic backdrop for the thousands of
visitors on the day. As the day is in conjunction with the school's Art
Show there is a lot to do as well as looking at cars. The Art Show
features exhibition and sales, market stalls, wine tasting, jewelry and a
fun fair.
Meguiars continued their commitment to the day by again supplying prizes
for winning cars. This year the judges were all under 21 with their
criteria being cars "You would like too take home"! Not necessarily,
therefore, best in show or class but cars that were well presented and
you could live with. And it didn’t matter if they were not an original
colour! There are photos of some of the winners here. The Best Club
Display went to the Central Coast British Car Club who once again put a
lot of effort into their stand.
It was great to see cars on display from as early as 1910 right through
to 2011. The current models demonstrated that the British car industry
really is enjoying a resurgence.
The All British Day will return in 2012 on Sunday August, 26th.
